Sharad Navaratri Begin

The first day of the nine-night autumn festival of the Goddess, beginning on Ashwin Shukla Pratipada with Ghatasthapana and the sowing of barley. It is the most widely observed of the four Navaratris and culminates in Durga Ashtami, Navami and Vijayadashami.
