Righveda Upakarma

The annual renewal of the sacred thread and recommencement of Vedic study for Rigvedi brahmins, held on the Shravana Shukla Panchami with Shravana nakshatra rather than on the Purnima used by Yajurvedis. Rishi tarpana and gayatri japa accompany the change of the yajnopavita.
