Hala Shashti

Marks the birth of Balarama, elder brother of Krishna, whose emblem is the plough (hala), on Bhadrapada Krishna Shashti. Mothers keep a fast for their sons' wellbeing and avoid all produce grown by the plough, eating only what grows untilled.
