Chhath

A four-day festival of Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh and the Nepal Terai in which devotees offer arghya to the setting and rising sun while standing in water. It honours Surya and Chhathi Maiya, and involves a rigorous waterless fast.
