The shukla tritiya of Vaishakha, regarded as a wholly auspicious day requiring no muhurta, on which anything begun or given is believed to bring lasting increase. Gold buying, new ventures and charity mark the day; Jains observe it as the end of Rishabhadeva's year-long fast, and it opens the Char Dham season at Badrinath and Kedarnath.
